10 Rules of Fat Loss

A Pedometer is the Key to Fitness and Weight Loss

Pedometers are your best kept secret to making exercising easier, improving your health and having fun in the process. They help to streamline your walking routine and move you closer to your physical goals, one step at a time. Walking is one of the simplest, most cost-effective, and enjoyable forms of activity. Clipping on a pedometer helps to take out all of the guess work and lets you see your accomplishments before your eyes. How long will it be before you begin to see results? The answer: almost immediately! You will first notice a difference in your energy followed by improvements in your fitness level, performance, fat loss and muscular endurance.

A pedometer gives you specific feedback on your progress and inspires you to go a little longer or make better time in the same distance. Glancing down at your pedometer is assurance that you are doing your body a world of good. When clipped onto your belt, the pedometer (which is smaller than a pager) can be just the inspiration you need to get you moving from sedentary to fabulously fit. Put it on when you get out of bed in the morning to see how many steps you take all day. Gradually build your way up to a goal of 10,000 steps a day which is predicted to be the amount necessary for heart health. Do periodic step checks throughout the day to make sure you are achieving your goal. This way you will not be left with a majority of the steps to do at night. You can set goals to increase your steps by 5 percent increments every day until you reach 10,000. Don’t worry if it takes you a month or a year or more.

Start slowly and incorporate some of the following tips for using a pedometer to build up to 10,000 steps a day:

Any time you are waiting, get moving. For example, take a walk while waiting to pick the kids up from practice, waiting for your car to be serviced or waiting for a plane.

Do all of your Saturday errands on foot. For example, park your car on one side of town and walk to the bank, post office, card store, video store and so on.

Make it a family affair. Share quality time taking an evening walk rather than sitting at the table eating seconds or lying on the couch. Push the baby in a stroller or walk alongside the kids on their bikes.

Keep a journal. Note your total miles each day. Record how you felt after exercising as well as your goals for the next day. Some sophisticated pedometers can download all of your data.

Have rewards ready. For example, when you reach 5,000 steps, buy a new CD to listen to while you walk. When you reach 7,500 steps, treat yourself to a massage.

Park your car at the end of the lot or in the next lot over.

Get off the train a stop early.

Take the scenic route by foot to your office or when traveling about during the work day.

Use the stairs instead of the elevator.

On long drives, stop every hour and walk around for 15 minutes.

Meet friends for a walk rather than lunch.

Make walking fun by dancing to your favorite music.

Use the push mower instead of the riding mower.

Join a walking club.

Sign up for a walk-a-thon and begin training today.

Volunteer to train a guide dog for the blind or handicapped.

There are enjoyable places to walk everywhere you look including golf courses, parks, rail trails, city streets, beaches, college campuses and so on. All you need to get started are some supportive sneakers, loose fitting clothing, a bottle of water and your pedometer.

You will have to put in some work, but it’s totaly worth the time and effort and you will LOSE WEIGHT FAST.  Instead of wasting another hour at the gym and not seeing results, start seeing a return on your invested time right now!

We all know that in order to lose weight you have to burn the calories you consume right?  Well lets just assume your’e doing your best and eating healthy for the most part.  How do you BURN THE MOST CALORIES DURING A WORKOUT? It’s all about WORKING OUT THE LEGS!! Yes cardio is great, but it’s even better and burns even more calories when done on legs that have just performed weight resistant exercises! Weight lifting is great and builds muscle and muscle burns fat and calories, but what part of the body burns the most fat and calories? You got it.. its the legs!!  The best part is that you don’t always need the gym to work those legs extremely well.  You cna do it in your living room if you wanted! If you do some  body weight squats, some walking lunges, some squat jumps and lunge shuffles, your are going to tire out those legs very quickly and burn a ton of calories. Now go do some cardio, I promise you will burn calories faster than a Hummer burns Gas. Not only that, but there is an after burn effect to working your legs with weight resistance. That means you continue to burn calories at an accelerated rate even while resting for up to 48 hours sometimes!

So why dont people work their legs?? Becuase it hurts!  But thats only at first. Learn to love the pain and accept that the more it hurts the more results you are going to see and you will be looking great in no time. I personally before becoming a personal trainer lost 30 lbs in 2 months by working out my legs and running afterwards. It works trust me. 100% of my clients get results.

The Right Attitudes to Achieve Your Goals

If you want to be truly successful in how you achieve your goals, then you need to harbor the right habits and attitudes that will keep you on track. There are a number of good traits you have to keep for life to discover that more opportunities and good things are bound to happen, if only you allow these.
Here are some of the features that great people had. Being Industrious Hard work always pays off. There is no single famous individual person in history who achieved several goals in life without working it off. Being industrious means working harder than anyone else, studying more than anyone else and even suffering more than anyone else. You have to understand the importance of delayed gratification as you work towards your ultimate goal. To begin hard work, you can begin by fixing your schedule, writing down tasks and functions of the day and finding the right people and resources that can assist you. Keep in mind that you have to be as independent as possible to finish more in the long term.

Discipline and Consistency
Discipline is what separates the leaders from the followers. If you truly want to make changes in your life, you have to understand doing things even if you do not want to at times, and maintaining excellent quality and optimum performance each time. Being consistent is intertwined with patience, wherein you continue performing well, regardless of the situations and hindrances, to render the results you want in the end. Discipline and consistency are also interrelated, in the sense that discipline breeds consistency. If you continue practicing good habits and sticking to the functions that lead to your main goal, you will find it easier to do over time. You will change as an entire person and experience the opportunities that come with being dedicated.

Resilience
Problems are a part of every man’s life, but it is the resilient person who always prevails and achieves their goals. You need to learn from your past mistakes and convert these into more productive actions the next time. Learn to pick yourself up after each fall and put in double effort to become better. Some of the most successful people, as well as those who truly left a mark in history are known to have faced big difficulties and resentment before they let others understand their own way of doing things.

Optimism
You need to stay positive about your situation, regardless of the problems that you face. It is vital that you stay optimistic and always believe that you will get to your goal, no matter what. If you tell yourself that you will reach it sooner, chances are you will. It might help to believe in the powers of the Universal Law of Attraction which draws opportunities toward you just the way you intend to, and in the right intensity as you desired.

Patience
Some goals are very big and will take time to accomplish. Do not allow yourself to think that some goals are just too huge to be possible. Be specific and set goals that are attainable to your current situation and start working to achieve these. You can break it down into smaller tasks that are much easier to do within the given time frame that you have.

Here at The Los Angeles Bootcamp we do whatever it takes to get you to your goals and just like a healthier body, a good attitude will help you in all aspects of your life.  Call 323.692.1020 to join  the bootcamp or get 1 on 1 Personal Training at a special rate!

Low Blood Sugar For Weight Loss

Has anyone ever told you that half of grapefruit with every meal can help you lose weight? If you have heard this, do you know how or why that is? It’s because grapefruit is one of the foods that helps to lower your blood sugar level.  Cinnamon is another food that people have heard can help you lose weight, but still if you don’t know that it’s because it lowers your blood sugar level, than your only getting half of the knowledge.  When your able to keep your blood sugar level low, you will burn more calories from fat than you will from sugar or carbs. Grapefruit along with many other foods like certain veggies will lower your blood sugar level or atleast help keep it low.  The Glycemic Index is great for seeing which foods will make your blood sugar level rise more than others, or which foods are safe to eat.  The best thing for keeping it low is.. drum role….. not eating sugar!!! You want to workout with a low blood sugar level to ensure the calories your body is using for energy is from fat.. stored fat that is.   The lower your blood sugar level the more calories from fat you will burn.  Fat is stored energy, and sugar and carbs are energy sources that your body wants to burn right away, otherwise your body will store that energy, hence creating FAT.  If you are running low on sugar and carbs, your body will be forced to draw energy form where you have stored it, A.K.A Fat Loss!

Also, there are ways to boost your fat metabolism!  Drinking Green Tea, having a little caffeine before a workout, Chromium Picolinate, all aid in boosting your fat metabolism.  These are only a few of many things that can aid in boosting fat metabolism.  The reason I threw them in there is because that if your able to keep your blood sugar level low, and boost your fat metabolism, you will only reach your weight loss goals that much faster.  Any and all tips I give are there to help you reach your goals as fast as possible so please keep checking back here at The Los Angeles Bootcamp.

So keep that blood sugar level low.. eat plenty of veggies.. work out .. eat your grape fruit.. and join the LA Bootcamp! Lets BURN FAT.. LOSE WEIGHT.. GET FIT and LOOK OUR BEST TOGETHER!!
